broken egr... help please

valve, stall, results, badly, post, poor, valves, yard, junk, make, emissions, 11mph, blowing, broken, hose, poped, burned

My 87 N/A will not get above 11mph.. my egr valve was blowing hot air out of it after it poped the hose off and burned through another one. but as far as i can tell the egr wouldnt cause my car to stall so badly..... every post about egr valves going bad just results in poor emissions, or is it possible that it could make my car stall? also I would like to know if I could use an egr valve from the junk yard?
