Throttle body coolant hoses

I have some ideas for modding my intake manifold. But before i go ahead and do that i need to get my research done. The coolant lines to the throttle body, they are for the cold start right? Is it possible to pull them off or would the engine constantly idle at 2000 rpm. or would it be the other way around, always idle at 800rpm Would eliminating the cold start valve be really detrimental to my... cold starts?
