- Can you guys tell me what the hose that is attached to the thermostat housing tube is for. I just removed mine and noticed the owner had it shut so i drilled the material out and now it flows. But I need to know what hose to connect it to. I originally thought it was for the coolant over flow to connect back into the system but the coolant overflow tank which is not original is causing the coolant level at the filler cap of the radiator cap to go low up or down depending on the height of the
