So i let my MK1 sit for about a month while i was busy getting a new windshield and i turned it on every other day so my battery would go flat. i get my new windshield and suddenly my car ran like shit. no power under throttle ( i went all the way to 5k 1st gear and wasnt above 20MPH). the only thing i had done so far was take the distributor cap off and cleaned it. i tried retracing my steps and seeing if i had bumped the timing or messed up my plug wires. no such luck. then the second day
