- MK1, 1988, N/A, 192K on what appears to be the original motor. All rubber seals and o-rings have turned to rock on this motor. I am in the process of changing all I can without dropping the motor, i.e., water pump, oil pump, timing belt, tensioner pulley (new spring), thermostat, new distributor, plug wires, and valve cover gaskets. Originally thought I had a bad front main seal leak but it appears that it is coming from the back of the motor. Is it more likely that the leak is coming from
