4A-GE MK1 Engine, trans, transmission, question, special, basically, erik, intimidated, back, thing, automatic, hate, auto, manual, swap

I just got my MR2 and it has a automatic trans, now the thing is i hate auto trans. I would like to swap it to manual, i am not intimidated to do it. Basically my question is does the MR2 use a special transmission? Or is it just a FWD transmission in the back of the car? Thanks Erik
