Hard to get out of gear at redline [Archive] - Toyota MR2 Message Board

My 95 MR2 turbo has become a bit difficult to get out of gear at high revs. Driving under 5k rpm is no problem, all shifts are smooth. But as i approach the redline i really have to force it out of gear when shifting. Entering a new gear is no problem. This problem is equal to all first 3 gears. Havent tried 4th and 5th. The car has got about 110k miles on it. Any thoughts? Does it require immediate attention to prevent a gearbox failure?
