I have an 87 and the air conditioning system was empty with no pressure at all for at least two years. I pulled a vacuum and it did not drop much at all. I put in the replacement 134A Evirosafe stuff that is compatible with R12 oil and their leak stop. My pressures are through the roof. With the AC on full and the engine at 2,000 RPM: Low: 45 High: 325 With AC off: Low: 82
