From what I have heard, Nitto is actually somewhat responsive to customer input when it comes to adding new tire sizes. Apparently the 305/35-18 was created almost exclusively due to input from the 997 Porsche community. As I am sure many of you have found, the biggest hindrance with fitting wider tires on the MR2 (especially in the front) is overall diameter, and a lot of other small/medium sized cars have the same issues.
